community trip

I am a recently qualified vet from Scotland. I visited Cambodia to work with CPWO to carry out a research project into the relationship between Cambodian women and their horses. This opportunity was given to me by World Horse Welfare, through an undergraduate bursary scheme for veterinary students. I traveled around many communities and whilst carrying out my interviews, had an insight into the amazing work done by the CPWO. They have a huge impact on the communities they help, working with owners to improve animal welfare and keep the horses in good condition. The results from our interviews found that many of the women would like to learn more about how to look after their horses, with one little girl also an aspiring vet. All of the women I met were strong and inspiring women, that gave me a real insight into their lives and what their horses mean to them. I cant thank the team at CPWO enough for allowing me to carry out my research by translating for me and taking me to each of the places I needed to go. I have learned so much from this experience and my time with CPWO.
